Below are a few guidelines you need to know when considering to purchase:

  

  • To purchase property in Barbados you will require the services of a local attorney at law.  Our staff can advise you of the best one to choose.

  • The vendor when selling his property must pay 7.5% property transfer tax and 1% stamp duty as well as approx 2% attorney fees. The vendor also pays Realtor Agent fees.

  • The purchaser only pays his attorney fees.

  • All funds brought into the island must be registered as a formality at the Central Bank

  • Properties can be purchased either in an individual name or a company name. Or by purchasing the company that owns the property.

  • Some financing can be done locally but majority of the time funds are sourced from outside.

  • Property sales can take three – six months to close on island.
